Here are the ingredients you will need for this dip:

  • Velveeta Cheese
  • Sausage
  • Shredded Mexican Cheese
  • Rotel
  • Jalapenos
  • Minced Garlic
  • Milk or Beer

We like to use the white queso blanco Velveeta cheese for this recipe. We also used hot sausage. You also have the option to use milk or beer for this recipe–milk makes it creamier and beer adds that little punch of flavor! Both are delicious. For this post, we used milk.

How to Make Queso Dip on a Smoker or Grill

Preheat your Traeger smoker or Camp Chef Pellet Grill to 250 degrees. While heating up, in a saucepan start by browning your sausage until cooked. In a large aluminum pan, place your cooked sausage, chopped Velveeta cheese, shredded mexican cheese, Rotel, minced garlic, beer or milk, and jalapenos. You can easily add things like onion, if so desired.

Place uncovered on your smoker for at least 45 minutes to one hour until melted. If desired, you can keep on longer to really soak in that smoky taste from the smoker.

If you do not have access to a smoker, you can absolutely do this on your grill using the same method. We would recommend adding a little liquid smoke to the recipe in this case to get that smoky flavor that you’ll be missing out on by using the grill!
